Our daughter, Laura, wanted a reception venue for her wedding which had a country feel, was within walking distance of the church and could comfortably cope with 100 guests for a sit-down meal.
The Howgill Bunk Barn was perfect - not only could we have a stand-up champagne reception in the main hall area upstairs, but we were also able to put a 15 x 10 metre marquee over the terrace and seat our guests for a freshly barbecued supper with views up to the fells behind. Dancing to a live band finished off the evening back in the main hall area. The best part about this was that those who wanted to stay and talk quietly in the marquee were not disturbed by the music next door.
Additionally, as we had reserved the whole Bunk Barn for 3 days, we had beds for 30 of the younger guests which saved a lot of money and took pressure off the local B and Bs which were already fully booked in June.
We would wholeheartedly recommend the Bunk Barn as a wedding reception venue - it ticked all the boxes for us!

A group of us recently stayed here for a 40th birthday party. Being a barn I expected the worst, how wrong could I have been. It was wonderful, accommodation and facilities are second to none and the views were wonderful. A little tight getting the van over the bridge but well worth the effort once we arrived. Will definately recommend to friends and will definately visit again.

I'm actually considering moving into the bunkhouse permanently…leather sofas, flat screens and under floor heating are the way to go!
