Howgills Bunk Barn provides group accommodation and is situated in the town of Sedbergh, in Cumbria. It is in an ideal place for a relaxing break with friends or family. Perfect for celebrations, parties and even weddings! Based in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and near the Lake District National Park, and set on the Howgill Fells at Sedbergh, beautiful scenery surrounds the place.
The bunk barn is the ideal place for any trip. Whether it's with families, business parties, group activities, school and youth groups or just to relax in peaceful surroundings. Disabled guests are also welcome as there is a range of facilities to cater for their needs.
Lounge/Dining
This is a lovely comfortable area to relax in when you settle down at the end of your day. You can take advantage of the dvd player and music system or just simply enjoy the views of the Howgill fells. The dining room seats 24 people and can be rearranged to your requirements or additional tables and chairs brought up from the kitchenette to seat up to 36 with some rearranging of the lounge seats for collective single group eating. The bunk barn is mainly chosen for self catering accommodation but for those who would prefer a full breakfast or evening meal the local restaurants, cafes and public houses are highly recommended. There are also excellent takeaways from the Indian, the Chinese and our local Fish & Chip shop in Sedbergh.
Advance notice is required for catered accommodation and we can certainly quote for that which is a popular choice for some groups.
En-suite bedrooms
The Bunk barn consists of eight bedrooms sleeping between four and six people in each with en-suite shower rooms. Each en-suite has a walk-in shower, w.c and washbasin. The standard room has 2 sets of single bunk beds. The larger rooms such as "Hooksay" and "Bush Howe" have double bunk beds available. There is also a communal shower room on the ground floor and separate w.c's. Bedding and linen is optional at a charge of £6 per person.
Study/Meeting room
This room has Internet access points and would be a useful facility for meetings and youth/business groups. It is also where the wide screen TV viewing is placed and the seating is casual soft lounge chairs rather than meeting room style.
Kitchen and Kitchenette
The bunk barn has a fully equipped Kitchen with a 4 hob cooker with two single ovens underneath, microwave, fridge freezer, kettles, toasters, dishwasher and all cooking equipment and utensils.(Refurbishment due in April 2011)
The kitchenette is on the ground floor and has a 4 hob cooker and single oven, microwave, fridge freezer and seating area for 16.
Laundry room
Equipped with coin operated commercial washing machine and dryer.
Drying room
Designated space to dry outdoor clothing and boots with a dehumidifier extractor.
Outside patio
This is a great open patio, where you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the Howgill Fells.
The bunk barn is set in its own grounds with 5 acres of land for ball games and group activities, with open fells and streams adjacent. A natural spring fed stream feeds the pond area to the east of the property which is fenced off from children. Ample parking. Dogs welcome by previous arrangements and booking fees.
